Ascent's founder, Jodie Lyons, was an underwriter in governmental risk pooling (CSDSIP & CIRSA) for almost 9 years before joining the private sector in 2019. Working for a high volume/high turnover work comp insurance brokerage which felt to focus solely on "the close," she knew there was a better way to merge the client care and support she held dearly from risk pooling with opportunity found in the open markets.
Ascent was launched in March of 2021 and we've had great success in a steady build-out while helping entities of all sizes and types with their specialty insurance risks!
For School Districts in the CSDSIP Pool, we know they have a wonderful team and program. We do have relationships with carriers of competing programs, though there are some considerations to take into account before venturing down that path for CSDSIP Members, and we believe in transparency above all. We focus primarily on the worker's compensation with school districts, as that's where we can make the most impact from both a cost and service standpoint. Whether you're with Pinnacol or want competing offers, we have the markets, the support, and most importantly - the passion in what we do!
For Charter Schools, Private & Parochial Schools, Higher Education, and Non-Profits, we have a full array of options to meet your needs combined with personalized service and support.

For Municipalities with CIRSA, there are competitive options for the package that we would be happy to discuss as well as standalone options if it makes better sense to peel away only the workers' compensation. The workers' compensation is where the most impact can be made from a pricing standpoint, while we have full support available to help reduce expenditures.
