Meet the Core of Ascent!
Jodie Lyons | Founder and Managing Principal
Jodie has worked in commercial insurance since 2011, with deep roots in public sector risk management.
Before founding Ascent Insurance Solutions, she served as a senior underwriter for the Colorado School Districts Self Insurance Pool (CSDSIP) and the Colorado Intergovernmental Risk Sharing Agency (CIRSA), where she built extensive experience protecting public entities.
In 2019, she moved into the private sector with a large regional brokerage known for high-volume workers’ compensation. She quickly became a top producer, but the model did not align with her values. Jodie wanted to build an agency where clients receive real advocacy, consistent support, and long-term risk strategy.
That vision became Ascent Insurance Solutions in 2021. Today, Jodie leads with expertise, integrity, and an unwavering focus on client outcomes.
When she is not advocating for clients, you will likely find her golfing, exploring the Colorado mountains, or enjoying time with her husband and their dogs.
Russell Lyons | Safety and Compliance Lead
Russell is our go-to safety expert, bringing decades of hands-on experience helping employers improve safety practices and strengthen compliance.
He retired in 2023 after a 35-year over-the-road driving career, with 3.8 million accident-free miles. Along the way, he managed DOT safety and compliance for his prior organization, giving him real-world expertise in transportation risk.
Today, Russell supports clients across industries with practical guidance in DOT compliance, transportation safety, operational risk, and workplace safety programs.
He also leads Ascent Safety Solutions, providing training and safety support for businesses that want to take safety seriously.
When he is off the clock, he enjoys time at home, football, and perfecting his landscaping.
Chester & Wizzle - "Champions of Cheer"
Chester and Wizzle occasionally serve as our Champions of Cheer, accompanying Mom and Dad to the office to brighten the day with their antics.
Both are hypoallergenic and have their favorite spots tucked under our desks when visitors stop by.
