Depending on the complexity of the account and the support requested, Ascent may provide traditional placement services, more comprehensive advisory brokerage support, or fee-based consulting.
Placement services are focused on marketing, quoting, placement, and ongoing policy service. More complex advisory work, including detailed coverage analysis, risk management consulting, audit support, contract review, classification analysis, and similar projects, may be handled under a separate consulting engagement.

Absolutely. Especially when there is a real opportunity to improve the program.
Workers’ compensation is one of our specialties, and we actively market it when we believe better pricing, structure, claims strategy, or carrier fit may be available.
But we do not believe every coverage problem is solved by sending the same account to another carrier.
When general liability, commercial auto, or another line is being driven by classification issues, loss history, poor controls, or an underlying exposure that needs attention, we would rather fix the problem than become quote monkeys.

Jodie has worked in commercial insurance since 2011, with deep roots in public sector risk management.
Before founding Ascent Insurance Solutions, she served as a senior underwriter for the Colorado School Districts Self Insurance Pool (CSDSIP) and the Colorado Intergovernmental Risk Sharing Agency (CIRSA), where she built extensive experience protecting public entities.
In 2019, she moved into the private sector with a large regional brokerage known for high-volume workers’ compensation. She quickly became a top producer, but the model did not align with her values. Jodie wanted to build an agency where clients receive real advocacy, consistent support, and long-term risk strategy.
That vision became Ascent Insurance Solutions in 2021. Today, Jodie leads with expertise, integrity, and an unwavering focus on client outcomes.
When she is not advocating for clients, you will likely find her golfing, exploring the Colorado mountains, or enjoying time with her husband and their dogs.
Russell brings decades of hands-on experience in transportation safety, compliance, and operational risk, along with the ability to help clients navigate their commercial insurance needs.
He retired in 2023 after a 35-year over-the-road driving career with 3.8 million accident-free miles. Along the way, he managed DOT safety and compliance for his prior organization, giving him real-world expertise in transportation risk.
Today, Russell works with clients across industries on commercial insurance placement, DOT compliance, transportation safety, operational risk, and workplace safety programs.
As a licensed commercial insurance producer, he helps clients evaluate coverage, navigate market options, and build insurance programs that align with how their businesses actually operate.
Independently, he leads Ascent Safety Solutions, providing training and safety support for businesses that want to take safety seriously.
When he is off the clock, he enjoys time at home, hill-climb UTV racing, and perfecting his landscaping.
Chester and Wizzle occasionally serve as our Champions of Cheer, accompanying Mom and Dad to the office to brighten the day with their antics.
Both are hypoallergenic and have their favorite spots tucked under our desks when visitors stop by.
